The 7490 is a bit bigger than the 7390, 9.5" x 7", almost as big as my first Netgear modem from 2004. The 7490 also appears to be manufactured at a slightly lower quality than the 7390. It works well, just doesn't look as pristine as the 7390. The cables to connect the modem to the phone line are also much lighter weight than the 7390. Again, the cables work fine, just appear to be of a lower quality. Don't let that dissuade you from reading more, the Fritz!Box is a German design so the materials were probably selected to be eco friendly.
